See? I have proof.

I'll just keep my butt warm on your laptop mommy.

  1. My cats do this constantly. They sit right on the paper I'm drawing on.

  2. Both my cats learned from day1 to NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER EVER touch the keyboard. They get away with anything and everything else, but NEVER the keyboard. :-)

  3. My cat did that when she was younger. Now her butt is too big for my laptop. I just discovered your blog the other day, btw, and I love it.

  4. Your kitty has the same type of tail as Mr.Kitty. It's totally the reason I picked him. I loove bushy tails, they're so pretty.

  5. HA! My cats care about NOTHING. Except food. And a good snooze, and anything else relating to their immediate needs.
    *sigh*

  6. It drives mom crazy when I do that. I can be in the back of the house for an hour sleeping. If mom opens up the laptop in the living room, I'm in there in a flash and crawling over the laptop.

  9. It's not a laptop! ...it's a portable kitty warmer. =3

  10. ...and isn't a gorgeous, warm, fluffy, purring, sweet cat MUCH more important (and nicer in every way!) than some stupid "deadline"?!! :)

  11. stupid deadline! it just puts food on the kitty table! lol.

it's an expensive kitty butt warmer :P

  12. My cat also does not care what I am reading, who I am talking to, or how close I am to finishing the current level of whatever game I'm playing.

Then again, my cat is just as intrusive if I'm NOT using my laptop, because my lap is just as warm, regardless of what I'm trying to watch.

  14. My cats never lay on our laptop, but to be fair we are never really on it for any length of time. The male will walk across it repeatedly if you're on it and ignoring him. But the female is all about paper. Whatever it is, it belongs to her, weather its the morning news, furniture assembly instructions, extremely important financial documents, veterinary bills... you thought you were going to read and/or file it, but you were wrong. Kerra is going to sleep on it. And then eat it.

By the way, whichever of your cats that is in the picture... he/she is absolutely striking. Blue & cream? What a gorgeous coat!

  15. mine do the same! specially the younger one, wants to sleep on the keyboard and erase whatever i am typing. the older one is a little better. he just sits in from of the screen (i have a desktop) and waits till i give food.
btw, the older one also has a habit of listening to my phone calls. if my cell rings, he comes from wherever he is and plonks himself in my lap, no matter what kind of call it is, i have to pet him while speaking on phone :)

  18. Consider what we know about laptops:-

    1. They are warm.
    2. They are cat-sized.

Clearly, they have been designed to warm cat butt.

  19. My kitty ate some keys from my laptop, when I looked closer, one of the ones she got was "Insert / Pause"

  20. My cat stole my old laptop, which I allowed because it was hit by lightning and then ran way too slow and warm to do anything but love the kitty. Then I got the kitten. She too got to use the laptop right up until she started biting all the keys off. The first cat has not forgiven me for taking away her compie.

  21. cats are usually attracted to the most expensive things in the house. they will either sit on it, scratch it, or swipe at it.

  25. Growing up one of our cats would always sit on the dictionary, we called it Learning threw Assmosis. Looks like you kitty is on his way to being the smartest cat in the world... or maybe just checking out all the cute queen pis. :P

On a slightly different note, my kitties know the key board is off limites. They can be on my lap as long as they want, but the moment they think about stelthely shifting their way onto the computer, off they go.

  29. My cat loves my laptop. She likes to sleep on it when it's closed or goes to the keyboard if I'm using. Actually, she likes to walk over the keyboard when I'm watching something on the laptop. I've found out a lot of useful things on the players because she pushed the buttons and did strange things that I didn't know it could be done.

  30. Your cat looks a lot like my Heidi! She is very smart and cooperative, and she knows the keyboard is off limits. We used to have another cat who, although charming, was not very smart. He was all over the keyboard and there was no point to trying to teach him any different, since he just didn't get it. I bought some software called PawSense that locks the keyboard, makes a hissing sound and puts up a sign that says "Cat-like typing detected" whenever the cat gets on the keyboard. It works pretty well - you can find it online. (No, they did not pay me to come here and say that!)

I like your response to the anonymous jerk, btw.

  31. Oh, you must buy your cat a personal "butttop", eh. haha. I wonder why cats love computers and laptops, though.hmmm...

  33. My cat cares doesn't care about deadlines but he once sent an email to my grandmother by accident as he shifted around on the keyboard. Unfortunately it was mostly of the 'keysmash' variety and entirely unintelligible.
