  1. I wondered if I was the only one that had to do that for my kitties. I'm glad to know I'm not alone, hehe :3

  2. We used to have to "fluff" my old cat's crunchies with our hands so he would eat them!

  3. I usually just pretend I'm serving them more food, they like to think it's "fresh"

  4. Hahahah that's adorable! I've never seen a kitty do that. Awww.

  5. We always try the bowl swoosh first to shake the food around a bit but if that doesn't work we generally have to stand in the same room before he'll start eating - no idea why but I'm glad we're not the only ones dealing with these oddities.

  6. They'll eat you when you're dead, you know.

  7. at least they think i'm tasty :P

  8. Yup, more tasty if one's kibble is "fluffed" several times a day

  9. I have to do that with my cats water or they wont drink

  10. My two male cats eat by themselves just fine, but my finicky female... well, I'm a little ashamed to admit that I cater to this, but here goes: she demands kisses in-between her bites. So she'll take one or two bites, arch her neck and look at me expectantly until I dutifully kiss her head, then take another bite or two.

  11. I have to pour the old food in a fresh new bowl (we always have two going) and stir it around to make them eat the "leftovers" and they won't drink the water unless it's ALL the way to the very top, so glad I'm not the only one

  12. Every. Single. Day. (at least thrice)

  13. My cats don't need human flavour. Only a human audience. I have to WATCH them eat otherwise they won't. Day food for while I'm at work is hardly every touched.

  14. Mine eats only the yellow-ish thingies, she just reject the brown ones -_-

  15. That was all new for me. I will try it. Thank you!

  16. They do it all the time... It scares me :S'...

  17. Even though there's always dry food in her dish, my cat wakes me up every morning so I'll fling her kibble around so she can chase and catch it.

  18. Sometimes mine won't eat their dry food until I shake it around in the bowl a little. Funny kitties!

  19. My Kitty Remedios does the same thing. She also likes atention while she eats.

  20. hahaha Mine like to think that the food is "new" so I just pretend I'm giving them new food ;D

  21. Mine doesn't understand that even though he ate a hole down through the pile, there is still more around the hole, I have to gather it up into another pile so he can continue to eat.

  22. Mine just wants the company of someone ...

  23. I have to be petted by one of the servants so that I eat. I even go and tell them, "Come eat with me" They have to follow me to the bowl, and pet me, then I eat and purr at the same time.

  24. I have never had a cat that needed me to touch their food to eat, but I have had ones that like to be watched and petted while they eat. I'm such a slave to my cats. xD

  25. my kitties are grazers, they eat small amounts (of dry food) all day long. they mostly like to eat while we are eating or making food in the kitchen but I know they do most of their eating at night since its gone in the morning. however, like another post mentioned they play with their food, flinging it out of the bowl and batting it around as it were alive. One even eats from her paw!

  26. I laughed out loud. This little scene gets acted out at my house EVERY evening!

  27. oh Noooo's now they have taste for humans, better sleep with 1 eye open or they going nom nom on you. you haz flavor

  28. OMG all the TIME, this happens! I thought my cat was the only one!

  29. My cat doesn't like eating "old" food. I think it goes stale or something. He's not tricked by me swirling it around. He seems to like his food more when the bag hasn't been opened for long.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hahahahahaha... I go back to the bag lunch and come back to serve.

  31. One of mine will only eat her meals if I hold the bowl for her (and periodic finger swishies are required. This is with canned food).

Yep. I do this three times a day. I just categorize it as "quality time." I'm such a good pet.

  32. Yeah, maybe my cat likes to imagine eating me...

    ReplyDelete
  33. My cat does that. There could be a bowl full but he'll sit and stare at it till we 'arrange' it with a fork.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I've tried stirring, shaking, and 'nibbling' -- now I'll have to take your suggestion, Yasmine, and see if we achieve success ;)

    ReplyDelete
  35. my kitty does the same! he meows even if the bowl's full. i lift it, shake it, or pretend to put in some more kibbles. put it down and he eats :)

  36. :O Imagina si llegan a aprobar la ley S.O.P.A. : NO-MÁS-VIDEOS-DE-GATOS :( :( :(

  37. Ha-ha, mine fall for that trick, too! Cats, eh?! I love your cartoons!

  38. My cats are the same. 3 in the morning comes around and their dishes may be full, but they know I've been asleep. They know that food isn't new. They want new food.

  39. My old cat required me to put any "old" food back into the container, shake it, and then re-serve her. I tried just pretending I did this, but she wouldn't eat it.

Another cat of mine liked her food to be "fluffed"

My current cat wakes me up at night just to watch him eat. If I go back to bed, he comes meowing for me to go back and stand next to him. But it is an improvement from the first year I had him; he wouldn't eat unless I fed him single pieces by hand.

  40. happens all the time...in fact, just this morning. sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  41. YES! One of our cats demands "fresh" food. I put it on the counter, stir it around, and give it back to her. She eats it happily.

    ReplyDelete
  42. OMG, this is EXACTLY what my cats do!

    ReplyDelete
  43. My cats do this too, and my mom humors them... but I always wonder if they wouldn't just eat eventually if she refused to. It's not like they'll starve themselves to death.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Maybe they are asking for permission. If you touched it and didn't eat it, that means they can eat without risk.

  45. In the slave to the cat category: My cat,, Buzz, gets dry all the time and 1/4 can wet food at 6 as a treat. If the can is open it is in the refrigerator so I first heat it to room temperature, than mix to make sure there are no hot and cold spots. And he can be fooled into eating his dry if you pretent to shake fresh into his bowl. He also like to pull his crunchies out one at a time to eat off the floor.
